Mouthwatering, delicious, melt in your mouth & life changing. These are all words that can describe this week’s Restaurant of the Week, Duck Donuts. New to Arlington, Virginia and the Lee Harrison Shopping Center right off Lee Highway in 2016, Duck Donuts serves up some of the best donuts you will ever eat. Originating from Duck, North Carolina in the Outer Banks, Duck Donuts is a made-to-order donut chain that has been rapidly expanding up the east coast since its origination in 2006. In Northern Virginia alone, there are stores in Arlington, Herndon, Fairfax, Bristow, and Woodbridge.
If you’ve never been, you might be thinking “what’s so special about Duck Donuts?” Well unlike other donut establishments, donuts here are made within minutes of your order so they are always fresh, hot and delicious. Every donut, no matter what you get on it, costs the same $1.35. Every order starts off with freshly made old-fashioned donuts then the fun begins! Visitors get to choose a coating, a topping, and a drizzle if they desire. Some coatings include cinnamon sugar, peanut butter icing, maple icing, chocolate icing, and many more! Topping choices include but are not limited to rainbow sprinkles, Oreos and bacon pieces. Finally, the some drizzle options that are offered are hot fudge, blackberry, raspberry, and salted caramel. Thus, the options are endless! See the menu in the picture below to see all of the options.
A Discover Arlington favorite is peanut butter icing with Oreos on top. One bite of that will send you right to heaven. We assume after reading this, you are probably in the car on your way to grab one of these babies. For a limited time, they are offering their seasonal Pumpkin Pie donut (Pictured below).
Insider secret…any of the coatings can be used as a drizzle! Mind blown, right?!?
