Calling all sweet tooths out there! We have some sweet news to share with you.
Nicecream Factory is changing the way we eat ice cream, one scoop at a time. We were invited into Nicecream Factory in Clarendon to indulge in a tasting of all their featured flavors of the month! For those of you who have never been, Nicecream Factory was founded from a couple's passion to make fresh, all-natural ice cream. After perfecting the process and being a hit at the local farmers markets, the owners opened their first shop a few years later at 2831 Clarendon Blvd in Arlington, VA. Now, Nicecream is expanding and opening its second store this Spring in the center of Old Town, Alexandria on King Street.
What makes Nicecream so unique? They have the ability to craft something incredibly delicious and natural right in front of your eyes with the magic touch of liquid nitrogen (pictured above). So what starts as fresh, grass-fed cream with natural, local ingredients from nearby farms, is transformed into a refreshingly delectable dessert in a matter of seconds (like the Key Lime Pie flavor pictured below). The science behind it? The nitrogen at a liquid state of -321 Fahrenheit freezes the ingredients within seconds creating smaller ice crystals. This process creates a product that is much denser and creamier than traditionally crafted ice cream.
For our tasting, we tried their six monthly flavors- Vanilla Bean, Cinnamon Candied Walnut, Caramel Latte, Orange is the New Black, Peanut Butter Cup and Dark Chocolate. My favorite? The Cinnamon Candied Walnut by far (pictured below). It's a combination of vanilla ice cream, candied walnuts and a sprinkle of cinnamon. This combination was seriously the creamiest, most delicate balance of sweet and salty. This ice cream is so good that it immediately brought me back to eating gelato in Florence. Truly amazing! Blake's favorite? The Orange is the New Black which is comprised of zesty blood oranges and dark chocolate along with vanilla ice cream. It is the most refreshing combination that leaves you wanting more after each bite. Let's be honest, all of the flavors were absolutely delicious, so we encourage you to try each of them before deciding on your favorite!
